Since childhood, Kodai has possessed a deep passion for meticulous, detailed work. Driven by an insatiable curiosity, whenever he set his mind on something, he would stop at nothing to master it. As a boy, he saved every penny from his newspaper delivery route to buy various gloves—constantly taking them apart and reassembling them to unlock the secrets hidden within the leather. His true calling found him in middle school. Seeing a friend about to toss an old, worn-out first baseman’s mitt into the trash, Kodai instinctively blurted out, "Can I have that?" He took it home, poured his heart into repairing it—polishing the leather, replacing the laces, and restoring its life until it looked brand new. The amazed expressions and joyous smiles of his teammates when he brought it back to school became an unforgettable milestone. Driven by the mission to "bring smiles to players through my work," he continued honing his skills. Before long, he became a local legend, widely known as the "Glove Professor," with players from all over seeking his expert touch for repairs and maintenance.

Kodai, the Glove Master

Kodai’s dedication eventually led him to apprentice under Shigeaki Aso, the globally revered "God of Gloves" at Wilson Sporting Goods. Under Aso's direct mentorship, Kodai mastered the elite craft from the ground up—from raw material selection to precision manufacturing and bespoke glove shaping. He also brought his elite expertise to the field, working at the prestigious Wilson Station during the NCAA College World Series.
